More Exciting News!

I got my first kick from Bean last night!  What an exciting Father's Day surprise for Robert!! I sort of freaked out, and then I got emotional.  I always thought it would be strange to feel something moving inside of me, but really it was amazing! :)

Last weekend, we went to the coast and had a great time. We went out out on the boat with our friends Timmy and Jennie.  That night, we all attended a couple's baby shower for our friends Ashley and Cameron.  Their little girl, Kendall, is due in 3 weeks.  Sunday, we had lunch with Robert's family.

I finally have a weekend at home coming up, and I plan to take full advantage of it!

By the way, I am over 20 weeks and Wednesday is the big ultrasound appointment!

Family Vacation & 19 Weeks

We just got home from our annual 10 day Lee family vacation.  I mean real vacation - beach, eat, sleep, repeat.  (I only put on makeup twice!) Robert, Chris and I did squeeze in a few morning jogs too.  We had a blast but it's always good to be home.  I left for the trip at 18 weeks and not looking pregnant at all and came home with a real baby bump at 19 weeks!  It's definitely real now!

Pregnant girl's beach gear!  Ha!! I really didn't read that on the beach but I did read 2 good books.
Look what NeNe found for Bean at a high end consignment shop in Destin - a Schwinn jogging stroller for $30!  Yippee!

Our little family photo at 19 weeks (minus Sugar)

I mentioned reading 2 good books:  Heaven is for Real and Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen.  The latter one took a little while to get into, but ended up being good.  I read the first in just a few hours.  I highly recommend it to everyone!
Pregnancy Highlights

Size of Baby:  About 6 inches long and 8.5 ounces or the size of an tomato.  Last week, Bean was a mango!

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  2.5 lbs according to my scales

Maternity Clothes:  I am still wearing some normal clothes but have purchased some maternity stuff, and boy are those clothes comfy!

Movement:  Not yet.

Sleep:  Sleep is great minus the several trips to the restroom!

Cravings/Aversions: I am recently obsessed with raw veggies (tomatoes, cucumbers, califlower) but totally turned off by cooked veggies (broccoli, asparagus) that I usually love.

Emotions:  I had an emotional night during vacation when I realized I am starting to grow!

What I miss:  I definitely missed having a cold beer on the beach and a nice glass of red wine with dinner during vacation.

Symptoms: I am really sore in my lower abdomen.  Other than that, I am feeling good!

What I'm looking forward to:  Feeling Bean move!

Advice

Help!  I need advice from some moms out there!  We are redoing our bedroom - new bedding, drapes, lamps, etc..  Side Note - For those that know me well, you know I am the worst decorator ever...I mean ever!  I have no creative instinct.  Anyway, I love white bedrooms.  Big fluffy white down and soft white sheets make me very happy.  Robert has heard from several people that white isn't the best choice with a baby in the house, i.e. stains.  My thought is that I can just bleach it?!  What do you think?

16 Weeks

We had our 16 week appointment today.  Bean's heart rate was 143!  Seriously, 4 weeks between hearing the heatbeat is a little much for me!

Robert and I watched "What to Expect When You're Expecting" over the weekend.  It definitely had funny parts, but there were sad parts too...or maybe that was my pregnancy hormones!  It really made us both realize how lucky we are to have gotten pregnant so quickly and be having a healthy pregnancy.

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  16.5 weeks

Size of Baby:  About 4.5 inches long and 3.5 ounces or the size of an avocado.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  According to the scales at the doctor, I have lost 2 pounds.

Maternity Clothes:  Still wearing my normal clothes, but some things are getting pretty tight.

Gender:  We find out at the 20 week appointment on June 20!

Movement:  Not yet.

Sleep:  I am getting more energy but I still love sleep!  I sleep very deeply and have very vivid dreams.

Cravings/Aversions: Meat still doesn't appeal to me.  I really like something for a few days and then I am over it.   The latest obsession was popsicles.

Emotions:  I may have teared up during the movie, and I am definitely noticing that I am more sensitive than normal.

What I miss:  Nothing.  I am actually feeling good and enjoying this week!

Symptoms: I am still a little nauseated during late afternoon, and my lower back is achy.  Also, I have a super sensitive sense of smell!

What I'm looking forward to:  Finding out if we are having Tripp or Layla!

In non-pregnancy news, we are going on vacation is a week and a half and are super excited for 10 days of relaxation at the beach!  I haven't mentioned this earlier, but I was selected to be a part of this year's Leadership Pinebelt class.  We have done lots of neat things so far, and this Thursday we get to ride in a Blackhawk helicopter!  I will update later on our group project.

15 Weeks

Seriously, who has walking pnuemonia and a stomach virus in the first 15 weeks of pregnancy - that's right, ME!  I am finally feeling a little better but Thursday night through last night was rough.

Robert is in Pascagoula playing in a golf tournament with his dad. He recently bought clubs and all the accessories, and has been trying to practice.  I can't wait to hear how his first tournament goes!

We have our next doctor appointment in a week and a half.  I'm really excited! I love hearing Bean's heartbeat.

Family vacation is in 3 weeks, and Robert and I are beyond ready!  I can't wait to relax for a whole week with no responsibilities.

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  15 weeks

Size of Baby:  About 4 inches long and 2.5 ounces or the size of an apple. Bean sure is growing!

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  I lost 4 pounds yesterday so I am about 3 pounds under pre-pregnancy weight. I'm sure that will all change once I feel like eating again!  This week was the first week I enjoyed food, well, before Thursday night.

Maternity Clothes:  Still wearing my normal clothes, but things are getting pretty tight.

Gender:  We will know in a few more weeks!

Movement:  Not yet.

Sleep:  I still love sleep! I'm always in bed by 8:30 or 9:00 on weekdays.

Cravings/Aversions: Meat is still an aversion.  Robert grilled a chicken breast (I haven't been a very good cook lately) on the George Foreman and the smell was miserable to me.  He has agreed to not do that anymore! I had a huge craving for peas and cornbread one day this week, so that is exactly what I cooked and ate for two nights.

Emotions:  My first cry was actually Thursday night when I was sick.  Other than that, I have had a few moody days.

What I miss:  Not much.  I started back to the YMCA (I do miss Versus but pretty sure I need an air conditioned gym for the summer) this week.

Symptoms: I am still having headaches and now getting backaches and shoulder aches.  Not sure where all that is coming from!

What I'm looking forward to:  Hearing the heartbeat again and finding out if we are having Tripp or Layla!

The Past 13 Weeks

Around mid March, I had walking pnuemonia.  I have seriously never been that down and out.  During that time, I was also really nauseated.  I just shrugged it off as part of the pnuemonia.  Two weeks later, I was still queasy (and stuffy for that matter) so that led me to Walgreens for a pregnancy test.  I took it as soon as I got home from work while Robert was at the gym.  Boy, did 2 lines pop up fast and boy, was Robert excited when he got home! Because I had difficulties getting regulated after I stopped birth control in December, it was a hard to predict how far along I was.  I went for my first doctor's appointment and we ended up estimating I was about 6 weeks.  She wanted me to come back at "8 weeks" to check for the heartbeat.  Two weeks later, Robert and I went back for the ultrasound to see a real baby with moving arms and legs!  After measuring the baby on the ultrasound, she determined I was 12.5 weeks.  That leads up to now!
Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along:  13 weeks today

Size of Baby:  The size of a peach about 2.9 inches and .81 ounces.

Total Weight Gain/Loss:  Zero as of now, but things are starting to grow!

Maternity Clothes:  Still wearing my normal clothes.

Gender:  My doctor does not check until 20 weeks!  I am going to be sneaky and find out a little early though.  I really have no intuition about what I think "bean" is.  By the way, the baby's name is Bean until we find out if it is RWL III or Layla Grace.  I don't know how we came up with Bean, but it has stuck!

Movement:  No movement from baby, but there are definitely some things growing and moving inside of me!

Sleep:  I have been loving sleep!  I am finally starting to get over the fatigue, but it was awful for several weeks.  I didn't have enough energy to do anything!

Cravings/Aversions:  I can't eat much at one time so I eat several small meals a day.  For about 3 weeks, all I wanted to eat was a taco.  I am over that now and to the point where food just doesn't sound appealing at all especially meat.  Carbs are most comforting.

Emotions:  Nothing crazy going on yet.

What I miss:  The gym.  I have been way too tired to do much more than take Sugar for a walk.  I am committing to get back into it starting this week though!

Symptoms:  Nausea - Hooray for Zofran!  Headaches - I am having terrible headaches!  I have heard they can stay around the whole pregnancy but I sure hope not.  Fatigue - For a few weeks, I would take naps when I got home from work and still sleep 9 hours that night!  I am gradually getting more energy though.

What I'm looking forward to:  Hearing the heartbeat again and finding out if we are having Tripp or Layla!

News...

Robert and Sugar have some news to share with everyone!

Robert's surprise when he got home from the gym several weeks ago!

It's true! We are expecting a little Lee around Novemeber 4! We had the 8 week ultrasound appointment yesterday. As soon as the ultrasound machine was in place, we all saw that we had more than an 8 week old baby. In fact, we had a 12.5 week old baby!

We told our parents a few weeks ago during my 30th birthday dinner. The grandmothers' birthdays are one day apart the week after mine so we gave them each a birthday gift - an I Love Grandma onsie! My mother's panic attack is hilarious!! I can't get the video to upload now, but I will definitely keep trying.

I am going to try for weekly updates like my friend Mindi so we will have the whole journey documented!  Fingers crossed!
